WE HAVE Answers

Beginner Program Q&A

Unlike many sports that focus on competition first, rhythmic gymnastics builds fundamental movement skills through play. Our beginner program uses games and music to teach coordination, balance and flexibility while keeping it fun. Kids don’t even realize they’re developing athletic skills!

Comfort is key! We recommend:

  • Hair securely tied back
  • No special equipment needed – we provide all apparatus for beginners.
  • Fitted athletic wear (leotards or leggings with T-shirt)

We warmly welcome parents to stay and watch their children’s classes from start to finish! At most of our locations, you’ll find seating or benching areas where you can comfortably observe your child’s progress. We believe that parental involvement and support are crucial to a child’s learning experience. Feel free to take photos or videos to capture special moments, and don’t hesitate to ask our staff any questions you might have during or after the class. Your presence is encouraged and valued!

Comfort is key! We recommend:

Absolutely! Our beginner program is designed for complete novices. We start with basic skills. Many of our most successful gymnasts joined with no prior experience – we focus on each child’s individual progress.

The sport’s musical foundation makes it uniquely accessible. We use:

  • Non-competitive performance opportunities. Many timid students blossom through the creative expression aspects
  • Group choreography to build social confidence
  • Encouragement led teaching with individual support

We look at our athletes as individuals, we cater the programming around them, not the other way around. We use:

  • Different learning techniques (visual, auditory, experiential)
  • Progressive learning, starting small and building from there

Our coaches actively monitor interactions and step in to resolve conflicts immediately, ensuring a positive environment for all gymnasts. We never compare two athletes, each individual’s development is unique and their own. If a concern isn’t fully addressed during class time, we encourage parents or students to:

  • Speak directly with the coach after class
  • Email our program director for ongoing issues
  • Request a private meeting to discuss solutions

Every concern is taken seriously, and we’ll collaborate with you to reach a fair resolution. Safety and respect are our top priorities!

Flexibility Gains Are Dramatic in Rhythmic Gymnastics programs
